Swedish Bible - The 1917 Church Bible (Bible Into English)
1917 Church Bible (Bible in Swedish)
The 1917 Church Bible, or Gustaf V's Bible, is called the translation of the Bible into Swedish published in 1917, and was confirmed by the King on October 2 of the same year.
The work on this translation - with long interruptions - 144 years from the time Gustav III in 1773 appointed a Bible Commission with the task of making a timely new translation. Several test translations were published, such as the 1883's normal edition. The translation of the Old Testament is based on the Masoretical Bible text, while the New Testament text is based on the most modern available text -critical edition of the New Testament Greek text. Esaias Tegnér Dy was one of the leading men in the work on the final translation, especially GT, and he is usually considered to have affected its archaic style. Paradoxically, the translation also has a speech -language character.
The language of this Bible soon became outdated, and in 1963 Kungl appointed. May: a new Bible Committee that published the New Testament in 1981. A complete new Bible translation was published in 2000 by the Bible Commission appointed in 1972.
The Biblicum translation of the Swedish Folk Bible, which was published in 1998, is also spread, especially among so -called Bible -loyal Lutherans, free churches and revival movements. Its Old Testament text is partly a revision of the 1917 Church Bible and partly a new translation, while the New Testament is an independent new translation.
The Bible, including Holy Scriptures, is a collection of writings, books that constitute the Holy Scriptures of Judaism and Christianity. The name comes from the Greek τα βιβλία, which approximately means the books via Latinization Bíblia. The number of writings varies slightly between different directions' choice of writings and their division, so -called Bible canon. The Bible's writings have been added from about 900 BC. And forward and it is generally regarded as the best -selling book of all time. Modern translations have up to 1200 chapters.
Christianity divides its Bible into the Old and New Testament consisting of about 39 and 27 books, respectively, depending on Bible cannon. The Old Testament's 39 books are about the same as Judaism's 24 books but with a different order and division.
The New Testament deals with events before and after Jesus' birth, which became the dividing line between Judaism and Christianity.
